Hormel Foods presents supplier award to Smyth

2012-04-16 ST. PAUL, MN - Smyth Companies has once again been honored with Hormel Foods’ “Spirit of Excellence” award for outstanding vendors. The award was presented to Smyth by John Witiak of Hormel Foods Corp. on April 16, 2012, at Smyth’s Minneapolis roll-fed print facility. This award was for services performed in 2011, and represents the fifteenth time Smyth has received the “Spirit of Excellence.”
The “Spirit of Excellence” is an award given to Hormel suppliers and vendors who meet stringent benchmarks for service in a number of categories, including delivery performance, product quality, customer service, administration, and plant quality audit scores. Smyth, a long-time supplier to Hormel, provides the company with package labels for many of the various Hormel brands.
“We have a long relationship with Hormel Foods, and it’s an honor to work with such a great company,” said Bill Hickey, president of Smyth Companies. “We’ve received numerous supplier awards from Hormel, but we’re not resting on our laurels. We try to earn their business every day.”
Smyth Companies is one of the largest label producers in North America. Smyth produces primary package labels, in-pack and on-pack promotional labels and application equipment. The company has headquarters in St. Paul, Minnesota, and operates six production facilities located in Minnesota, Virginia, Massachusetts, and Colorado. Smyth employs approximately 430 people.
