Smyth receives Hormel Foods' "Spirit of Excellence" award

2010-05-20 ST. PAUL, MN - Smyth Companies has again earned Hormel Foods’ “Spirit of Excellence” award for outstanding vendors. The award was presented to Smyth by John Hilgers of Hormel Foods on May 17, 2010, at Smyth’s Minneapolis roll-fed print facility for service rendered in the 2009 fiscal year. Smyth has been honored with this award a total of thirteen times, and 2009 represents the eighth consecutive year the company has earned the award.
The “Spirit of Excellence” is an award given to Hormel suppliers and vendors who meet stringent benchmarks for service in a number of categories, including delivery performance, product quality, customer service, administration, and plant quality audit scores. Smyth, a long-time supplier to Hormel, provides the company with package labels and point-of-purchase displays for many of the various Hormel brands.
Smyth is one of the largest label producers in the U.S. In addition to package labels, Smyth produces in-pack and on-pack promotional labels and application equipment. The company has headquarters in St. Paul, Minnesota, and operates five production facilities located in Minnesota, Virginia, and Colorado. Smyth employs approximately 350 people.
