Assistant Press Operator - Phoenix, AZ

Role Summary

Pure Pack Technologies (PPT), a division of Smyth Companies, specializes in the conversion of flexible packaging materials commonly used across the many industries Smyth services, the most common being the food industry. Flexible packaging is one of the fastest growing product segments in printing and packaging, offering increased shelf life, high end product appeal, and enhanced consumer-use functionality.  With two (32” and 42”) wide web central impression eight color presses, PPT manufactures products such as shrink sleeves, unsupported & multi-layer structures, zippered pouches, and popcorn bags. 

PPT is seeking a Assistant Press Operator. This role is designed to assist the Press Operators in machine tasks to set-up, maintenance and the operation of the printing presses. This role will ensure tools and supplies are properly maintained; support the team in and perform preventative maintenance on press such as lubrication, replacement of small parts, cleaning and conducting minor adjustments to rollers and other small moving parts. This role will recommend equipment repairs, parts and supplies; will issue work orders for the maintenance of all equipment in the department and administer preventative and operational maintenance to other department equipment as needed. This role will work closely with the teams and all departments to create an environment that supports workflow and continuous improvements of all pressroom operations, as well as prepare and maintain appropriate documentation for pressroom operations.

Shift: 2 Roles - Monday-Friday, 2pm - 10:00pm (Flexible hours during onboarding)

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Press Operator in delivery of customer job, including set up, maintenance and operation

Pit Crew Technician - Phoenix, AZ

Role Summary

Smyth Companies is a print and packaging manufacturer, who has been in the industry since 1877.  We design, create, decorate and distribute print and packaging products for companies, such as Hormel, Victoria Secrets, Bath & Body Works, just to name a few. Our Phoenix facility is one of our newest acquisition, out of 10 location across the U.S.   

The Pit Crew Tech position performs all duties needed to supply accurate supplies to the pressroom in advance on daily production.  This position is responsible to ensure all supplies meet Smyth quality standards and customer specifications.  This position will show leadership in areas of Lean Manufacturing, KAIZEN, sustainment, ISO quality systems, innovation and current systems technology.

Digital Press Operator - Green Bay, WI

Role Summary

Smyth’s Green Bay facility was a Greenfield Start Up in January of 2015. The concept was for a state of the art DIGITAL printing facility, focusing on the middle market of the label industry. Immediately after ground breaking Smyth purchased the assets of a traditional/conventional flexographic printer on the East Coast that focused on labels for the Oil Industry. A flexographic machine was moved to the Green Bay facility and immediately began producing labels for the Oil market. Shortly thereafter the first Digital Ink Jet machine was installed to expand the Green Bay offerings of Oil Labels to include the Health and Beauty / Beverage / Consumer Products markets.

Smyth Companies, in our Green Bay, Wisconsin location, is seeking experienced Digital Press Operator.  This Digital Press Operator is responsible for the efficient set up and operation HP, Domino, and iGen presses and their corresponding finishing capabilities, meeting specifications in product quality, safety, and effective management of material and product waste for use in the flexible packaging industry. This position will show leadership in areas of quality systems, innovation and current systems technology.

  • Operate material handling equipment to move product using a fork lift and pallet jack.
  • Determine if raw materials are of good quality (visual check) and alert purchasing to any defects that may reduce the quality of the final product.
  • Make sure correct raw materials are being issued to the correct press in a timely manner.
  • Move stock to and from inventory warehouse in an organized and timely manner.
  • Receive and track raw materials movement to ensure accurate inventory counts and availability of materials.
  • Assist with daily, monthly, quarterly and annual cycle counts on raw materials.
