Truck Driver/Material Handler - Austin, MN

The Truck Driver/Material Handler is responsible for timely issuance of raw materials to respective work stations and accurate inventory control. This person will deliver raw materials to the presses and take Finished Goods from MN Sheet-fed to the Commercial facility.

Successful candidates will:

  • Communicate with Press staff to identify raw materials needed for the next 4-6 hours. Retrieve necessary materials and stage in appropriate areas to keep presses running.
  • Deliver Finished Goods to our Shipping Department in a timely manner. Keep open communication with Shipping and Finishing to make sure our daily Shipping needs are met to the best of your ability.
  • Make deliveries for our Commercial facility, including around town, and possibly to Rochester, MN.
  • Maintain inventories at our Joseph Building warehouse location for MN Sheet-fed and Commercial facilities.
  • Work with the Finishing Supervisor and the Safety Director to help maintain our delivery truck. 
  • Return metal recycling to scrap yard, including battery recycling.
  • Maintain our Daily Forklift Check Sheets, checking the forklift daily to ensure compliance.

Machine Operator - Austin, MN

We are continuing to grow our facilities in Austin!  Because of this, we have an exciting opportunity for experienced Machine Operators to help lead a team on 2ndand 3rdshifts.

The Machine Operator performs manual and machine operator tasks related to a variety of finishing operations.  This position will inspect labels for errors and defects, and package finished product produced off-label printing equipment.  This position will also show leadership skills in directing workflow, motiving employees, and team building with their employees.

Engineering Services Technician - St. Paul, MN

Smyth’s Engineering team, which is our Red Rock Division is seeking a talented and motivated Services Technician to support our Engineering and Innovation teams in the development and maintenance of our labeling equipment. This role is instrumental in the build, deployment, and maintenance of our equipment, our relationships both with our customers and sales team and the delivering of outstanding services.

In-Shop responsibilities include, although not limited to maintaining parts and inventories; works closely with our internal customer service team on fulfilling part orders; coordinates job tickets for service and equipment orders; provide project management support, coordinate information regarding timing, necessary support, equipment and parts requirements, as well as costing information; assemble and prepare label application and equipment for all customer inquiries and orders; maintain accurate documentation customer orders, leasing, and shipping.

PPT is seeking an Assistant Press Operator. This role is designed to assist the Press Operators in machine tasks to set-up, maintenance and the operation of the printing presses. This role will ensure tools and supplies are properly maintained; support the team in and perform preventative maintenance on the press such as lubrication, replacement of small parts, cleaning and conducting minor adjustments to rollers and other small moving parts. This role will recommend equipment repairs, parts, and supplies; will issue work orders for the maintenance of all equipment in the department and administer preventative and operational maintenance to other department equipment as needed. Role Summary

Our Wilmington (Boston) facility is one of 10 locations across the U.S.

As a Press Operator, you are responsible for the efficient setup and operation of a flexographic press focusing on meeting specifications in product quality, safety, and effective management of material and product waste. You will work with a team, collectively ensuring the press is stocked with all necessary materials that enable focus on the art of producing the labels.

In this position, you must show leadership in areas of Lean Manufacturing, KAIZEN, ISO quality systems, innovation and current systems technology. Press Type & Shifts Available:

  • Flexo Press Operator Thursday – Saturday 5 am – 5:15 pm
  • Flexo Press Operator in Training Sun-Tues 5 pm – 5:15 am

Successful candidates will have:

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Set up and operate flexographic printing press to print designs on rolls of flexible packaging and paper for use in making products, leveraging UV inks.
  • Identify, recommend and implement areas for Lean and continuous improvement/modification.
  • Ensure tools and supplies are properly maintained.
  • Perform required maintenance and daily housekeeping on the press and surrounding area.
  • Work closely with teams/departments to create an environment that supports workflow and continuous improvements of all pressroom operations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must have the ability to think through the mechanical aspects of press operations, problem-solving and decision making.
  • Must have the ability to learn and or have a thorough understanding of the central impression flexographic printing process.
  • Understand UV ink as it relates to the process of printing.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  
  • Able to manage time effectively on multiple long and short-term projects simultaneously, meeting all related deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal, collaboration, and relationship building skills to effectively work with a diverse group/variety of people and personalities.
  • Able to display high levels of customer service, responding promptly and thoroughly to the inquiries and needs of individuals both internal and external to the organization.
  • Must have basic math, reading, writing skills, and have the ability to tactfully communicate to customers and employees of all levels of the company.

Education, Experience, and Credentials  

  • High School degree or equivalent and/or two or more years in central impression flexographic printing; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.  
  • Must be able to participate in a night or weekend rotation to cover the overtime shifts.

Press Assistant - Wilmington, MA

Role Summary

Our Boston facility is seeking a highly motivated, eager to learn and grow, Press Assistant(s). This role is designed to assist the Press Operators in machine tasks to set-up, maintenance and the operation of the printing presses. This role will ensure tools and supplies are properly maintained; support the team in and perform preventative maintenance on press such as lubrication, replacement of small parts, cleaning and conducting minor adjustments to rollers and other small moving parts. This role will recommend equipment repairs, parts, and supplies; will issue work orders for the maintenance of all equipment in the department and administer preventative and operational maintenance to other department equipment as needed. This role will work closely with the teams and all departments to create an environment that supports workflow and continuous improvements of all pressroom operations, as well as prepare and maintain appropriate documentation for pressroom operations.

Shifts Available:

Sunday-Tuesday 5 pm – 5:15 am

Mon-Wed 5 am -5 pm

This is a full-time opportunity. 

Compensation will be based on experience and qualifications.
