Truck Driver/Material Handler - Austin, MN

The Truck Driver/Material Handler is responsible for the timely issuance of raw materials to respective workstations and accurate inventory control. This person will deliver raw materials to the presses and take Finished Goods from MN Sheet-fed to the Commercial facility.

Successful candidates will:

  • Communicate with Press staff to identify the raw materials needed for the next 4-6 hours. Retrieve necessary materials and stage in appropriate areas to keep presses running.
  • Deliver Finished Goods to our Shipping Department in a timely manner. Keep open communication with Shipping and Finishing to make sure our daily Shipping needs are met to the best of your ability.
  • Make deliveries for our Commercial facility, including around town, and possibly to Rochester, MN.
  • Maintain inventories at our Joseph Building warehouse location for MN Sheet-fed and Commercial facilities.
  • Work with the Finishing Supervisor and the Safety Director to help maintain our delivery truck. 
  • Return metal recycling to scrap yard, including battery recycling.
  • Maintain our Daily Forklift Check Sheets, checking the forklift daily to ensure compliance.

Machine Operator - Austin, MN

We are continuing to grow our facilities in Austin!  Because of this, we have an exciting opportunity for experienced Machine Operators to help lead a team on 2ndand 3rdshifts.

The Machine Operator performs manual and machine operator tasks related to a variety of finishing operations.  This position will inspect labels for errors and defects, and package finished product produced off-label printing equipment.  This position will also show leadership skills in directing workflow, motiving employees, and team building with their employees.

  • Set up, run and maintain finishing machines in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Responsible for reading and understanding all information pertaining to the finishing of an order before running.
  • Perform work based upon finishing spec sheet and priorities assigned by the Finishing Supervisor/Finishing Lead.
  • Inspect labels for imperfections. Remove labels with problems.
  • Assist with a quality process including identifying and reporting issues and defects in a timely manner.
  • Perform required preventive maintenance on assigned finishing equipment.
  • Work closely with teams/departments to create an environment that supports workflow and continuous improvements of finishing operations.
  • Enter and update documentation pertaining to the set-up, operation, quality control and maintenance of finishing machines.
  • Enter accurate production information including finished product count and start/stop times in the data collection system.

Engineering Services Technician - St. Paul, MN

Smyth’s Engineering team, which is our Red Rock Division is seeking a talented and motivated Services Technician to support our Engineering and Innovation teams in the development and maintenance of our labeling equipment. This role is instrumental in the build, deployment, and maintenance of our equipment, our relationships both with our customers and sales team and the delivering of outstanding services.

In-Shop responsibilities include, although not limited to maintaining parts and inventories; works closely with our internal customer service team on fulfilling part orders; coordinates job tickets for service and equipment orders; provide project management support, coordinate information regarding timing, necessary support, equipment and parts requirements, as well as costing information; assemble and prepare label application and equipment for all customer inquiries and orders; maintain accurate documentation customer orders, leasing, and shipping.

Field responsibilities include, although not limited to providing technical support to the sales and leasing of Red Rock equipment; travel to customer facilities to evaluate and specify equipment needs for the label application and recommend solutions; prepare, set-up and provide technical support to internal contract efforts; highly solution focused to ensure our customers needs are met.

Machine Operator - Egg Harbor, NJ

Role Summary

Smyth is seeking candidates who are highly mechanically inclined, understanding of electrical components and the effects within machinery, and who have demonstrated skills of break-fix in their work and living environment. Individuals who have a passion to mechanically make things work, ability to problem solve through situation analysis, by breaking it down and determining route cause, which enables the machine to operate in the most effective manner.

Our Machine Operator’s main responsibility is to operate a tube processing machine, which applies labels, caps, and ultra-sonic seals. This role supports, guides and manages a line where the tubes are managed through a finished product while verifying the finished product is within customer specifications. The Machine Operator will have overall responsibility for the machines including set-ups, output, and maintenance. Operators must obey all facility and department rules. Other duties and functions may be assigned on an as-needed basis.

We have an exciting opportunity within Smyth Companies at our Minneapolis, MN location as a Shipping Administrator.  The Shipping Administrator manages the Smyth Minneapolis and the St. Paul finished goods warehouses.  This position will also drive a Smyth truck and assist the shipping department on daily tasks and will back-up the Shipping Lead during absences.

Role Summary

Education, Experience, and Credentials  

  • High School degree or equivalent
  • 4-year degree preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience Customer Service
  • Print Industry knowledge preferred
