Role Summary

Smyth Companies, a top 10 Printing & Packing Manufacturer in North America, is seeking Consultant, Sales Representative that is results driven and customer focused.  This role is responsible for sales activities within Rochester, MN area, focused on our Commercial Division. The Ink Tech is responsible for the activities of the ink mixing/matching process including supplying, formulating inks, adjusting and the navigation of the color matching process. Press Assistant - Phoenix, AZ

Role Summary

Pure Pack Technologies (PPT), a division of Smyth Companies, specializes in the conversion of flexible packaging materials commonly used across the many industries Smyth services, the most common being the food industry. Flexible packaging is one of the fastest growing product segments in printing and packaging, offering increased shelf life, high end product appeal, and enhanced consumer-use functionality.  With two (32” and 42”) wide web central impression eight color presses, PPT manufactures products such as shrink sleeves, unsupported & multi-layer structures, zippered pouches, and popcorn bags. 

PPT is seeking a Press Assistant. This role is designed to assist the Press Operators in machine tasks to set-up, maintenance and the operation of the printing presses. This role will ensure tools and supplies are properly maintained; support the team in and perform preventative maintenance on press such as lubrication, replacement of small parts, cleaning and conducting minor adjustments to rollers and other small moving parts. This role will recommend equipment repairs, parts and supplies; will issue work orders for the maintenance of all equipment in the department and administer preventative and operational maintenance to other department equipment as needed. This role will work closely with the teams and all departments to create an environment that supports workflow and continuous improvements of all pressroom operations, as well as prepare and maintain appropriate documentation for pressroom operations.

  • Leading and participating in the changeover process while creating opportunities to improve our efficiencies.
  • Following and promoting all established Standard Work in the process.
  • Sustainment of 6’s requirements for work and staging area.
  • Proper operation of the printing press while maintaining quality and performance of the equipment.
  • Participate in daily shift meetings within the work group to ensure proper communication of details and daily production concerns.
  • Use the establish tools to increase efficiencies and communication within the production team.
  • Drive efficiencies on the press floor with proper use of support staff and clear communication.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Must have the ability to think through the mechanical aspects of equipment operations and decision making.
  • Able to manage time effectively on multiple long and short-term projects simultaneously, meeting all related deadlines.
  • Must have good math, reading, writing skills, and have the ability to tactfully communicate to customers and employees of all levels of the company.
  • Excellent interpersonal, collaboration, and relationship building skills to effectively work with a diverse group/variety of people and personalities.
  • Able to display high levels of customer service, responding promptly and thoroughly to the inquiries and needs of individuals both internal and external to the organization.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing to all levels of people inside and outside the organization, including possessing good English speaking skills, fluency and understandability.

Education, Experience and Credentials  

  • High School degree or equivalent.
  • 1+ years of related flexographic printing experience preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude required.
  • Previous experience with Lean Manufacturing and ISO quality systems preferred.
